68 coronet - speedo needle wont go back - what can i do?

Hi there,

Needle won't go back.
The very little spring has some tension and is not broken.
Anything that can be seen on the photo's?

Anything I can do?

Time for service. The grease seems to dry out after 58 years. Just like us! There are several vendors available that rebuild instruments. Not cheap but, you will only have it done one time.

I had a speedo do this recently, it locked up and busted the cable in the process.

After pulling out, WD40, a drill spinning it, and some oil in the tiny hole, it works fine now.
