Got the doors shot over a long weekend. Just have the jambs on the car left to do then I'm taking the winter off. Will focus on the overall next spring. Hopefully it's a better year than 2020.

        Thanks Mark.
Ran the piss out of it in places. Most of them will never been seen once re-assembled. Scrubbed out the rest of them today.
Have I mentioned I am tired of shooting irregular surfaces?

I've almost got my shop cleaned up so I can start on mine. I joined a turbo forum as I think it's going to get twins

Took some time off over the Holidays and as we had no real plans, I had time to mop up some details before hopefully shooting the overall in early spring.
          • One of my sons convinced me to weld torque boxes in. The frame rail connectors have been in for while. I figured what the hell.
          • Got the doors hung without a nick or scratch.
          • Was able to resolve the issue I was having with the Eddie Motor Sports billet aluminum hood hinges. (Nothing that $150 at the machine shop couldn't fix) If any of you out there are looking at getting these, ping me first, I have a few choice words for EMS and whether they are worth it for the cost. (Trick as hell though).
          • Reinstalled the hood after the hinge correction. No nicks or dings there either.
          • I'll take the next two months to take my time and 400 wet block it one last time. (overspray from jambs, a few additional dings, etc.

Doing some detail work here over the winter waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can shoot the overall.
Just finished restoring the trunk panel. It was in such good shape (save faded paint), I was just going to clean it up and massage a few blemishes out and re-shoot it.
Well, I screwed that up and ended up stripping it all the way down, anodization and all. Good beer drinking watching it snow activity.

Stage 1 laid down today. 3 drips from from my F@cking base gun that I will address in the morning. (It has done that to me before).
                      Stage 2 Murano after that.

Stage 2 Murano down. Probably the most stressful stage. Stage 3 final clear in the morning.
Somebody ask me about the dent in the trunk lid. Please?

One more in 25% booth light as I was shutting the shop down today. Interesting how the light light plays on the Murano. Pictures don't do it justice.
Can't wait to see it in the sun.

Ok, I'll bite. Why are you spraying paint over a dent in your decklid?

                                It's an Easter Egg.

I drove this car for over 25 years and never knew it was there until I tore it down. The trunk trim totally covers it.
Just a little part of this car's history that I know nothing about and I felt I would leave it there. Not to mention the pain in the @ss it would be to straighten it there.

                                  Clear down. I'm pooped.
Not one run up to this point then the DC 4000 and I didn't play well together. Couldn't get it to flow then ran the shit out of it in a few of spots. Nothing that a wet block and more labor won't fix.
Next time you hear somebody bitch about the cost of custom paint kick them square in this @ss. This stuff is pure Voo-Doo.

Looking sharp for sure. Yes paint it your self and don't look back. When painting mine had a dark stripe in the middle of the roof. Wet sanded it out and got up the next morning and sprayed it and feathered it in to the sail panels. That was my first stage of paint color. Guess I did not reach far enough across the car when spraying the paint. One way to learn. But it look's good now. Like that you put the decal under the clear coat. Did you seal it with color blender first or just clear over it?. Good job. Now all your buddy's will want your to paint their car's. LOL.

                                      Thanks Blue.
The Murano is in the DBC 500 color blender. I sprayed the DBC over the pinstripe but the Bird is only under the DC4000, 4 coats.
I didn't want the effect of the Murano over the top of the Bird. Did I make a mistake?

Wow - looks like it will be stunning, especially in direct sunlight!

One of these days I need to get the balls to paint one myself...
