I'm wondering if anyone has taken their Mopar out of storage and started it for the first time of the year and have it continually have it shut off right after starting it?I tried it 10 times and it does it every time, starts and quits,I've replaced the Ballast resister and still the same.Anybody out there have any ideas?
Thanks for any help given.

How long does it run? Does it run if you Give it some throttle?

If it dies as soon as you let go of the key (from start), and have replaced the ballast, it could be a bad ignition switch. You don't mention if you have the original single ballast, or the electronic dual ballast.

How long was it in storage? Could it be as simple as bad gas?

Does it have a Pertronix? If so replace with points and see if that fixes it.

Also, I agree with the others here about the power source after releasing the key from the start position. I had the same problem on another vehicle and when I hot wired the distributor to the battery it ran fine (did it as a test - don't run the car on the street this way); I replaced the ignition switch and the run wire from the ignition to the distributor. Solved my problem.

Its possible you have bad gas too.

I had something like this happen once and a critter had chewed through the wires from the ignition to the ballast. I believe the start bypasses the ballast and run goes through it. I would also check the ignition switch with battery disconnected with a ohm meter as well as wires going to it.

Need more information. Stumble then die, or stop like it was shut off? Remove and clean the bulkhead connector for good measure just to eliminate it. Spray it heavy with electrical cleaner till it runs clear. Carefully re-install.

No,it starts and shuts down right away

Original single ballast, but it does have electronic ignition, and it ran fine before I put it away for the winter, had filled the tank with Premium and used Sta-Bil.

Hey Thanks Everyone for your comments,A Mopar Buddy of mine came over to night and he's an electronics whiz and we traced some bad wires from the Junction box to the ballast repaired them and it fired right up,thanks again people.Mopar2Ya.
