I'm going to start off with a big question. I'm looking to verify the numbers on a 69 Charger and need some help with people with more experience on these cars. Any help would be appreciated. I know some about the numbers matching business, but have run into a few questions on the current car.
I know the car is an original Hemi.
Car vin: XS29J9B. . . . .
I've got a date code on the fender tag of: A14 - I think this means it was made on October 14, 1969?
Engine block raised numbers: 2468330-2 - and a date stamp of 8-5-68
Engine block indent stamp at bottom rear of block where engine attaches to trans. on drivers side: MN426265812510 - can someone tell me how to decode this after 426? (I don't get the Julian calendar thing)
Engine block indent stamp on the same pad: A + E (what does this mean?)
Engine block indented stamp on passenger side lower rail pad above the oil pan: B917. . . . (8 digits / later 69 correct match to car vin.)
My question is that I've seen reports that say that engines where usually placed in vehicles within a month of the production of the engine (in this case we are probably over by a year). If I go by the passenger rail pad the engine appears to be a match for the car, but if I look at the block stamps I'm not sure anymore.
Can someone enlighten me on how to verify numbers match and clear up the other specifics I have about the engine noted above?
