I am addressing the faded paint on aluminum grill and tail panel of my 69 Coronet that has faded and chipped off. Specifically the semi flat black detailing both front and rear of these aluminum bezels. I have searched through the archive to try and get recommendations but either overlooked them or didn't go back far enough to find what I needed.
The first objective is to find the correct paint used to freshen these pieces up, who makes it, correct color and where I can find it. The second quest is finding a procedure as to how I prep and rejuvenate these pieces. My pieces still have paint in the correct places, just somewhat faded. Do I somehow scuff the black areas up and remove all waxes and polishes off and then try and "paint" a new coasting on? Or do I need to reapply some type of primer over the faded paint areas and then retouch up all the areas? I am sure this will be a very time consuming process, but I would appreciate any guidance that could be offered as to correct paint and the "HOW". I am no painter and am lost as to where I should begin with this. Thanks for any info.....
