70 318 rear freeze plug passenger rear head blew out need install help.

I have thought about the rubber plug but I thought it was only of temporary use? Like to get you home from a road trip one time? thoughts about a rubber plug for spring cruising? been a 2 year project, I would love to finally get a spring cruise out of her?
I would think it would be ok as permanent. Freeze plug block heaters are expandable rubber.

I've done this on an old Jeep. I pulled up the carpet from the firewall and
drilled a 1" hole thru that lined up
the freeze plug. Got a rubber gasket
to cover up the hole once the freeze
plug was installed. Had a friend hold
new freeze plug in place while I tapped
it home from the inside while under
the dash.

No, that is incorrect. Block heaters are made of steel, brass, or aluminum with a rubber O-Ring to seal it. The part that holds it in place is a back brace that expanded when the screw was tightened. They work like the drywall anchors that expand when the screw is tightened to retain it in the wall.

I've done that too.

Not proud of it.
