70 charger brake problems

Ok heres the problem .My 70 has no brakes which really isnt a problem right now as i am just working on it but it makes for a scarry ride down the driveway when I am pushing it out of the way.The problem is that the pressure wont release.Today I tried to bleed the brakes and after pumping and releasing and there is still a ton of pressure on the calipers after releasing the pedal.I removed the caliper and tried to push it in and it would not go.I then removed the brake line off the caliper and it floated in nicely with little effort on the c clamp.This leads me to believe that there is a check valve or a ball stuck somewhere.My question here is does the master have the abilit to prevent back folw or is it in the proportioning valve.I hate to take everything off and still not know what direction to go in.Any help or info would be greatly appreciated thanks(ps sorry for the long story)

Could be bad flexible brake lines, I seen that before especially on cars that I have set long periods of time....what happens is the line doesn't allow fluid to return to the master cylinder and holds pressure on the brake....I know it sounds crazy but I've seen it many times.

its worth a try .I thought of it but the fluid flows well to the caliper but just not releasing.I put a lot of pressure on the caliper trying to push it back in and it wouldnt go.thanks

when I was in school for automotive, we were told the lines not only crack from the outside ,but just like the rubber seal on the master cyl the lines swell up on the inside.with the pressure from the master cyl the fluid can enter but not enough pressure to release the caliper esp on the older cars with older hoses.

I would bet the flexible brake lines are shot also. I had one do the same thing. It would engage the brake but would not realease. I replaced both front hoses and problem solved. Good luck!
