I’m looking for tips and tricks for masking and repainting a 70 Roadrunner grill. I have new spray bombs and need to paint the entire assembly. I’ve removed the trim and washed all of the parts. I’m contemplating painting the dark argent areas first, using a 1” thick foam sheet to then mask those areas and then spraying the light argent areas. The surface is rough and the blue tape doesn’t seem to want to stay on. Please share your experiences. Thanks.

I did the light first which goes around the outside. Then I made a mask out of a cereal box to cover it up, there is a step molded in the plastic to butt it up to. Then I did the dark. Worked great.

Yes tape doesn’t stick to the textured paint
