70 Rocker Moulding Clips Ford?

In the past Auveco was the company that made a variety of those clips, from .5" wide to 4" wide, some snap in the holes from around 1/4" to around 1/2" others have a stud that accepts a nut if you have access to the back of the panel... I've used a bunch of them, they may not look OE but once install you can't see them & they work great...

Thank you. There isn’t any access to the back so it’s a blind mate snap fit.

Yeah, I knew that was the case in this application.... But these clips are useful for all sorts of trim... You need to know the diameter of the hole the clip will be snapped into & the width of the trim...

With that info I would probably use this contact form....

I am out of Argon gas.. I mocked up a clip and will try to weld it tomorrow if I get the gas.

Ok got the Argon CO2 mix (thats a story unto itself). Did two quick welds (yes I know they are cold). And guess what I found……when you weld up spring steel even just two quick tacks the spring steel is no longer spring steel. It snapped as soon as I put pressure on it to insert it in the hole.

This kinda messes up my concept.

Any ideas?

Wait annealing it would make it softer. He’s a 55-year-old spray steel clips. I’ll have to try a new one.

Ok I ordered these. Should I hold up to welding better and dimensionally right on the money and the depth is adjustable!

Ok I have verified my clip solution. It works very well! I will now set up to make 18 that I need. It’s a bit difficult without a sheer press but the width is crucial such that they can slide through and yet stay retained in the channel. The clips need to be cut down to get the right height and the steel plate slightly concave. But it works well it’s all steel and strong and can be removed successfully without braking like those plastic ones. Here are some pictures if anybody needs to make their own.
