I purchased this project from Haywire440 back in early December. Had some trouble getting it transported during the Christmas season but it arrived yesterday, hours before the snow began to fly. No suprises but his ad had about 85 pictures so I knew what I was getting! Plans are to clone it into a pro touring RoadRunner. Watch for a thread on it when it gets started.
So this sale had to be one of the most fun and challenging ever. Fun because of Liberty MW and how enjoyable it was to work on this together. The stories he told of his adventures in the car hobby were terrific. I took many photos, even more as directed by Liberty MW, and I’m really glad because I learned more too. His desire for this car made me glad I went through the process of getting a title, tracked down a ‘70 steering column (2 states away from me) and that also supplied a passenger door, bought some miscellaneous parts along the way, dragged the Satellite from Arkansas to Illinois where it was supposed to become a Superbird clone(but that didn’t work out, which was perfectly fine with me because I had faith it would become something) and satisfied my desire of getting this vehicle back on the roads of America. This 1970 Satellite is in skilled hands and I can’t wait to see it’s metamorphosis from the caterpillar to a butterfly. The Satellite has logged 2900 miles in the last few months like that caterpillar climbing a tree. Thank you for the kind and encouraging words Liberty MW and God Speed Brother!
If you can restore a whole car without cutting a finger just once you are my hero. Lol. Regardless, looks like a great project, have fun!
Check out my 70 Road Runner convertible thread! You will bleed from your body and your wallet! Good luck with the new project!
Originally a California car that went to Nebraska and never on those salty east coast roads. Rare event to be sure!
Does it have an 8.75? I have a nice original 3.23 SG with HD 11" finned drums if you need one for your project. Looks very straight for traveling that far. Lucky Satellite for sure! I assume it is a Sport Satellite? Big block?
