71 charger Power steering gear box

Need advise on a 71 power steering gear box. I believe 71 and 72 are the same, but what about earlier or later units or "C" body units. Friend picked up a parts car, missing the gear box. He checking but does not want an after market unit, prefers to rebuild a similar unit

I would think a 70 71 e body box would be the closest thing

72 down are small sector, 73 and up are large. 71-2 are the same box.

Yes, output shaft diameter .

In your opinion, I can install a 73-78 b-body unit in a 71-72 b- body. Do I need the drag link?

Yes, just need the 73 up pitman arm. Will fit your existing center link.
