We thought we would start this thread to share the Journey of the GTX. Dylan decided to name her Betsy. Met QuickBpBp and was able to pick up half the parts do to trailer. But I’ll be making another trip down to grab the floor and cowl. The new pieces will add new life to this GTX.

Looks like you did pretty good with all of your pieces, lots of salvageable parts there.

That's a heckuva project.

I feel really good about it. Dylan gives me the age advantage . And there isn’t too much to really mess up on with the body. Brett’s pieces are so nice that it makes sense to do a whole swap with the big pieces. Yet I feel like I need to hang on to as much of the real GTX as possible. It’s an amazing car to save.

Good luck.
I remember that car.
"Unmolested"...except for mother nature.

If you need "smalls" I still have a 71 RP23 parts car, but it's being used up pretty fast and has a date with the sawzall/plasma cutter.

Glade to see it went an enthusiastic home, I offered to buy the eng. if it didn't sell.

Thanks. I just saw this... I am glad to see these parts that have been sitting in storage for decades are going to a good home. I collected tons of parts hoping my boys would have an interest in these old mopars but they do their own thing and like mostly newer stuff. Although my youngest has mentioned getting a 68 or 69 Dart to play with. Unfortunately, I sold all my A-bodies years ago along with most of the parts. My oldest is interested in a '69 Mach 1 but they are like 68-70 Chargers...

Got this original 71 GTX Bumper from Frank (66 Cornpicker) and saw these 915 heads on eBay and couldn’t resist. I’m heading back down to Brett’s (QuickBpBP) area to pick up more sheet metal today. I plan to show some progress this spring/summer as it warms up. But I can’t explain how much I love this car! And I truly appreciate all the support and help and new friends.

Dropped those heads of today to get rebuilt he said they have been worked on before and there isn’t enough room for harden seats he said they look rough. Left them there for him to take measurements and get an idea of what he can do. But it looks like lead additive is in their future. Thinking these heads are a bad idea. New. Aluminum heads are probably a better way to go.

Don't be afraid of the aluminum heads or 452 motorhome heads. I found a real nice virgin low miles 452 for my project that were really fair price and has hard seats already. Just a little bowl work and a good valve job woke them up nice. And less than aluminum

I got this single bolt Cam and intake on EBay and I’m waiting for the word for the 915 heads in the machine shop. I hope to have the motor running by the end of the month. Going to clean this cam up with steel wool and soak it in the hot tank at work. And my goal is to have pics of the front floor done by the beginning of May

The Goodman front floor showed up today and it’s a huge box. Love it! And I chose this after viewing Dad’s first car. Tomorrow the main floor pan supports show up which are AMD. I guess my question is there is a nice Torsion Bar cross member for a 71 on eBay and I’m pretty sure I’m going to need a new one should I get that one or should I go with a new AMD one? Picking up an angle grinder and cutting wheels this week and am going to start cutting the old floor pan this weekend

Are you going to drill out the spot welds to disassemble it? Cut out the larger pieces in between crossmembers and supporting panels? Have fun!!

Took the hood off and the crowl looks pretty good. Also had an Edelbrock AVS carb on it and found a Carter 4968s on market place for $60.
