'72 Plymouth Satellite project - Gone with the green!

72 Satellite

FINALLY!

Got some warm weather and got ready to paint! Base/Clear Tor Red turned out great! 5 weeks of straightening, sanding and sanding, waiting for warmer weather! The Tor-red turned out great and finally can get it back to my little garage to get it back together. Will get some more pics of the final panels but anxious to get it together this spring! Take a look!

Where to begin? Still drooling over the how well I think the paint turned out, have a few runs in the clear I will cut and buff out. It's awesome!

Well I went and cleaned out the complete interior floor and trunk pan again. The whole car has all of its original sheetmetal with no rust, I went and rolled a bedliner on the floors and wheelwells, which should help quiet it down.. Also blacked out behind the grille/coresupport and touched up the Kframe. I think it turned out really well!

Got a 4speed tunnel hump and brackets from AMD for a console shift 4speed car. Will have to cut the hump and get the 18spline 4speed mocked up with shifter and linkage etc. That's gonna be interesting! Was gonna reuse floor body plugs, but decided to go all new, what the heck! Also got firewall and paint body gasketkit from Detroit Muscle Industries, good stuff and good prices!

Fitted in the AC box which I will put new firewall insulation up first..

Time to get crackin and get all those rebuilt parts put back on!! Kinda overwhealming trying to figure out where to start! Am thinking firewall

Finally getting the axle swap done. Original axle is 7 1/4". Found a 8 3/4" rear from a '73 Charger with rear sway bar setup. Was a learning process but got a 3.55 suregrip installed and also ran 11" drums from a '70s power wagon and swapped the backing plates and hardware. Ran new drums and brake hardware! Turned out great!

Will get firewall hardware installed and get 4speed pedals in!

Then tackle getting the 400BB and 4speed ready to go!

More fun!

Got to credit the designer: John Herlitz - Chrysler. Man I love this car. Who can not love that face. Mopar high-water mark.

Some more progress, got brake booster and cylinder in, had to replace front passenger brake line along firewall, and some other odds and ends installed! Got 4speed pedals in and getting windshield clips prepped. Managed to get the headliner in too which turned out great! Gone with the green!

More progress, lots of sandblasting little parts, powdercoating and installing! Was able to get the 400 installed and mocked up a bit to make sure everything fits, 4speed also fit inline and mounted great! Can't wait!

Hammer Time!

Have been on a mission with the Satellite, I think you get into such a zone that nothing else matters so I'll gotta be sure the wife is happy! That will be the only time the Border Collie is in the car...

Got the trunk weatherstripping installed, it seems like even that project takes acouple of hours!

Been installing the rear quarter catwhiskers, I think has been the worse part to install... They turned out alright! Roof rail seal is in with new "anti-rattle" clips.

Was also tackling the 4speed hump, found out my air chisel tool makes the best and smoothes cuts! The Satellite is ready for a 4 speed! I went with a A833 18 spline 4speed with a RAM clutch.

Drove 22 hours to the Midwest Mopars in the Park, near Minneapolis, MN last weekend. What a blast! Was able to get more parts done off my checklist! I recommend that show to any mopar fan!!

Now to tackle the rear seat side panels, and sail panels, and trim..... and grille... and bucket seats... and...

This car is gonna be sweet! More fun!

Getting more of the interior done! Carpeting measured and cut! Getting the front bumper polished up and grille brackets mounted!

Got some great information on a template for cutting a console for a 4speed shifter, worked great! Prepped and painted with black epoxy paint.

More fun and making great progress!

I've been vicariously following your thread. What a chAnge from the green/green/green to what she's become. She's a beauty. And you've done some really nice work on her. Good luck with the rest!

PLymouth project

THank you GTXd!

Been working on it just about every evening, just to keep things moving!

I think the grille inserts turned out amazing, it seems like there are 20 hrs into that thing, scrubbing, media blasting and prepping! They look great!

Also did the rear taillites cleaning them up, retaping with friction tape, had to put new back up light sockets in since moisture was in there..

Progressssss.

Starting too look like a mopar! Got the front bumper installed and grille pieces, I think it turned out alright! Also mounted rear bumper and taillite housings, trunk lid and gull wing! Now moving on to dash wiring and some more engine compartment stuff!

Found the rest of the pieces for a rear sway bar setup so will get that together too! Can't wait!

More progress!

Went with the mopar valve covers, what a pain dealing with studs and finding the correct PCV valve and breather!
