Hi everyone, I pulled my 727 last night, planning on my first ever transmission rebuild with a CRT build it yourself 600 hp kit. However when I got it out I noticed a crack where one of the bell housing bolts is. Should I find a new case for the rebuild or get it welded? I’m next to JBA speed shop in San Diego and i hear they are pretty good for repairs. They are currently building my engine (440 block) up for about 600-650 HP, mostly street car might hit the strip once in a while but not a purpose built race car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It looks more like a casting flaw to me. Does anything show on the outside? If not, I think you will be safe using that case. Do what makes you comfortable.

Looks like some casting flaw that did Crack. I'm sure they can drill each end and weld that up .
^^^^^ like Mike said.

Take it to that speed shop and see what they have to say about it......
