Hi, I have a '69 superbee, and recently I restored the transmission. Worked fine about of 200 miles, but yesterday the morning I had problems with 727. Suddenly, the tranny started slips. In park, neutral, drive or low, still moving forward, but in reverse the tranny brake. Accelerating fairly moves with difficulty to reverse.

Today I have disassemble and find the rear clutch discs fully burned and "bended". Everything else seems ok.
The question is: may what have caused this? Valve body problem ?

I will replace the clutch discs, but I would like to know what may have caused this. Has someone an idea where to look for a possible assembly fault?

Did you check the clutch clearance? Pressure check it to see of the piston was applying? How is the band on the drum adjusted? Restore a transmission what did that consist of?

Did you replace any hard parts when you did the trans? Did you forget to put the spacer in the rear drum?

the spacers are there, clutch clearance was good, bands adjusted in 2 turn back after torque of 72in-lb. Today I remove the clutch piston, and the piston and piston seal is damaged. Has it a mounting failure?

I think that found the problem. Bellville spring is in backwards/upside down.

Looks like the piston came out too far, the backwards spring sounds like the issue.
