73 B body Small block hooker super comp headers column shift automatic

Replacing a 23+ year old set of trashed headman headers with some hooker super comps and the shift linkage assembly (which never fit well) now won't fit at all. Has anyone figured out the best way to make this work?

The brackets are now completely blocked by the primarys. These headers are a lot longer than the headmans.

Once I got things tightened up it was closer. I think this is mostly due to sagging mounts (engine, trans, body mounts are all pretty shot).
I was able to get it working by rigging up a new engine side bracket for the lever. It will do to get the car moved around until I pull the engine for a 440 swap.
