Hi,

I want to share this info and pictures with the rest of the forum.
My old gas tank was extremely damaged storing gas and water for several years causing holes, rust and leaks.
I used a KBS Coating kit for tank restoration.

I cleaned with water, soap and rocks with some small pieces of metal like nails or bolts.
I removed any excess of soap, I welded holes with bronze and I applied the KBS product.

first step was a cleaner, then another liquid to avoid rust and then a sealer which is cured with a normal weather not heat applied directly.

After this, gas touches the sealer instead the gas tank metal.

I also applied the product outside the tank, then primer and black paint

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but playing devil's advocate...if you added up your time, and the chemical/paint costs, wouldn't it be cheaper to spend $150 and get a brand new tank?

I hope you get many more years of use out of it.

Maybe you are right but I wasn't sure to get the exact same replacement tank. So I can just cross the border to Mexico and everything there is cheaper, talking about chemical products, welding, blah blah.
