8 year old new tires.

The tires on my Charger are new, but they are 8 years old, and the car has been sitting for all those 8 years in a hanger in N.J. never being driven. They are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. P 225 60 15's. This is really an opinion than a tech question, but would you keep them or replace them? The car does feel like I'm driving my daughter's jeep, Renegade. I guess really, I just need a push to spend close to $1000 on something that technically are new.
How far did you drive the car? Had a pickup years back with Good Years on it and if the truck sat for a week, the tires would flat spot. If the weather was cold, it would drive like your daughter's Jeep all the way to work which was 15 miles away. On the way home it was better but still a bit Jeepy feeling lol. Next day it was fine but I got tired of dealing with them and changed them out. If you didn't drive your car very far, try it. Keep your speed down though and keep your feel attuned to them for a change for the worst. Usually when a tire is about to give up the ghost, it'll let you know. You could jack up the car and check for tread separation while turning it. It'll show the flat spot too or it should show it....

When I bought my car in 2020 these tires were just over 20 years old. It had less than 900 miles put on them in that time frame
Always stored indoors , on the car

They still looked like new tires. No checking or splits of any kind anywhere on the tire

It drove fine . But I was taking a 6-7 hr trip in the car that 1st summer
So I replaced them more as a precaution than anything else

Either the engine and transmission are vibrating or its the tires. I'm getting a vibration above 40 MPH. I took the car to a Bodyshop this morning and it sounds like the speedometer is making a whirring noise now. BTW, that's a nice GTX, bucket seats and a console?

I've had lots of BFG's starting in the early 80's and never had bad ones but the tires that I had the worst luck with were Generals. One came apart and damage my beater (wasn't a beater at the time) then two more showed signs if failing and took them off. Sent General a damage claim and got reimbursed. Nice surprise. Had one Michelin shred but it was on my trailer and was 20 years old. I knew they were probably very questionable, so I took a couple of spares with me. Had planned on changing them out before making anymore runs with the trailer but one more popped up. Made two trips of 154 miles each to pick up a small car then some lubber. Thought I was going to make it but about 15 miles from the house, the right rear gave up. Glad it was on the right side!!
BFG's are good tires, but don't forget, these tires have been supporting this cars weight for 8 years without moving. Sitting dry, but in the cold of the winter and the extreme heat. Like one of the guys said, I would be less concerned if the car was on jack stands the whole time.

I thought I was Satellite in the picture, but your member name says GTX.
Ive had the same user ID for 30 plus years on various forum boards

It started back when I owned several 1969 GTXs and a 1970 Challenger
Ive been around a while so 99% of the people know me by it . See no real reason to change it now

It's the sitting on the ground with the car weight on em that bothers me. Sitting on jackstands for that time, I think my concerns would be different.
I was looking at the lead  but yes 100% agree on the tires sitting in one spot.

I have a pair of BF that are over 10 years. Still no problems. You have flat spots on them. I will be tossing mine this year. I think you need some new shoes for your charger.
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.

What do you like better the 67 Satellite or the 69's?

With restraint, you'll probably be okay, but.....
have you ever seen a tire explode at a burnout competition? It ALWAYS takes out the quarter panel.
Do you feel lucky?
I only plan on using the car to run errands close to the house. That will also help me find and work out the bugs. In fact I just notice today the speedometer is whirring and now I can add that to the list. I don't feel comfortable taking it on a highway as of yet. I think once the body work is done I will get some new tires. That way no one can have any kind of a whoopsy on a new set of tires while working on the car.

Yes, I’m seeing the black walls are cheaper and like you said more options. Coopers are looking pretty good right now, 235’s aren’t that’s much bigger.
I think you might possibly have problem with the front tires rubbing on the frame when turning. The would certainly rub on our car.

Would you believe they don't seem to have a 225 60 15? I would have to get a 235.

Not sure why you are running such a small tire as 225/60 anyway. You have a lot more room in the wheel wells to fill up, get better traction, etc. Depending on what wheels you have, I'd go bigger.

Nah, I’m happy with the way they look.
