How much power can a 833 OD handle? Is it a good way to go for a street/strip trans or is that first gear at 3.09 to deep to run with a big block?
Just checking my options for a OD trans in my 64 plymouth.

well... the 3.09 isnt bad if you're running a 3.55 or 3.23 diff... the OD trans weak link is the countershaft to case clearance... mill and install a bushing for a 0.000" clearance fit...

your standard 4-speed would most likely be a better bet and less work...

I can do the work thats not a problem. I have a 727 right now and would like to have the OD for crusen! Can you speed shift that tranny?
Thanks

just like any other 4-speed... just dont expect insane performance at the track due to the wide gear spread.... but it'll live just fine
