A518/46RH Trans Rebuild

Did you not see the link? Charles devised a very similar system to part number 727518.

Sorry as I did not look it over real close. The stock valve bodies have a valve that wont move until its in 3rd gear as it wont let overdrive come on until pressure from the front clutch moves the valve over when it goes in 3rd gear. That way no overdrive until after it shifts into third. Course the ones I am used to also use the stock PCM to moniter all the sensors like speed , vacum , tps and so on before it will finally ground the overdrive solenoid. I think I will look it over real close as it sounds like an interesting system. One day I may get my hands on a 46RH and build one for my 63 so I would need a setup like what you guys sell Rusty. Thats nice for the guys putting them in the old muscle cars. Ron

Wow after looking at the wireing pic I see how simple of a setup it is. Its funny as I knew I had heard guys talk about the setups out there when putting the overdrive trans in the older muscle cars but I just never looked into it since none of my buddies or me have thought about doing it. And I had never considered it on my 63 but as I said since I drive it so much it might be something I will think about. It would be nice to do it and put a Dana in my car at the same time. I worry racing it with the 8-3/4 rear. Ron

Crazy ray's has them all day long. I could grab one if you want. They charged me 125 with the converter. Why I took the converter I have no idea. I think it would be 100 without it.

I wouldn't get transmission parts from a big box store if my life depended on it.

They work just fine. Are they the best on the market? Nope, do they meet OE standards, yes. I have used these kits for years and have never had a failure on components. Just like anything, you can spend the money on more expensive items, but in most cases you do not need to, just food for thought. I ran a 71 charger for 5 years on a O'Reillys kit without any issues. The car ran high 11's-low 12's all day long. The key thing you should pull from this rebootej, is that each builder has their preferences, but not every builder is going to agree with one another for obvious biased reasons. Good luck on your build.

You have better luck getting the correct parts straight from a transmission parts supply house. You also get better quality parts and can actually find the parts in stock, instead of having to wait for them. We just got done with an 06 Scion XB and had the parts the next morning. A big box store wouldn't even know what kinda transmission that thing has.
