Help was parking car today and had reverse at first but moved the car again to center in the car spot and could not and still can't select reverse gear, can get all others no problem, had a quick look at levers on side on gearbox they seem ok , is it the shifter maybe ??? Or reverse gear detent ??? Help

Sometimes the reverse gears land on the well worn and rounded off teeth. These teeth are supposed to have nice V shaped ramps to promote engagement, but when the V gets worn flat from years of grinding the chances of mating all three gears becomes harder (cluster, reverse idler and 1-2 slider). With it in neutral and engine running pop the clutch once and back to the floor for another try. Wait to coast down so you don't grind.

The other possibility is the shifter is out of adjustment.

You could also try helping the shift with a wrench on mounting nut or just trying to push the linkage tab while someone tries to shift.

Before helping it, I would just watch while someone attempts to shift it into reverse and see what happens with the lever on the transmission.
