A833 case numbers

Anyone want to take a shot at this date. None of the stamping are very legible - I think too much paint.

I read it as 5 - 2 - 8. And it does have the cast in stamp pad but looks like most the numbers stamped characters are filled with paint. There’s also this date code on the case but it’s pretty obscure - maybe 5 - 2 - ?

So, I’m guess probably a 68 transmission which would seem to go along with the 68 block although the Hemi engine was assembled in Dec 67 which is quite a ways in advance if that is a May 68 casting date.

The pad on the side will tell you exactly what day it was made. It goes off a 10,000 day calendar.

I agree with 68 Hemi GTS, find the number on the side pad and use the 10,000 day calendar BUT the first photo, C-95664 Z is the ball and dent design used from 1964-1970, so your guess of 66 or 68 would be correct. The second photo, C-99129 casting number was used in 1969-1976, according to Jamie Passon transmission book. Post of photo of the pad number ( see my pad photo) to get the exact date, number made that day. Mine built on April 30, 1968

Thanks, I may have to use some lacquer thinner on the pad to see if there is anything readable there. It also could be one of those things best left alone as it seems to be working fine.
