I recently purchased a ‘64 Fury convertible that came with a ‘64 Belvedere 318 4 door sedan.

I’m not going to take the entire car, but am going to pull off it what may be of use to me or others. Any suggestions?

I’m currently planning on pulling the following:
- dash assembly
- push button shifter and cables
- radio
- taillights
- grille and headlight trim
- radiator
- reverse light assembly
- horns
- voltage regulator, wiper motor, etc.

The lower quarters are really solid behind the rear wheel wells. Would these work on my Fury? If they would I’ll cut patch panels.
Would the trunk from a sedan fit a convertible?

Anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Allan

Yes you can use the lower Quarters.Trunk floor can be used. The cowl area on the early B cars are worth money if they are solid.Truth be told anything that isn't rusty can be sold. All the trim parts too.You can pick it clean.

A local wrecking yard had a '65 Coronet four door car a few years back. I paid the yard $200 for the car and had them put it in a back corner for me. I visited the yard several weekends in a row with a buddy of mine and we picked that car clean to the unibody. We didn't cut any sheet metal off of it but we unbolted every single bolt on the car. Great learning experience and I'm still using those parts today as I work on projects. I should've done a better job of keeping all the various nuts and bolts in containers and bags but I managed to keep most of it organized so I could find stuff later on.

I bought a 4 door once just for a few parts I could not seem to find. It was a lot of work but I couldn't believe how much I made on the rest of that car. What I found was that most everybody scraps the same obvious parts so there are plenty on the market. Try to save the parts that are not re-poped and are one year only. Concentrate on parts that will fit 2 door cars also because there is a bigger demand. There are lots of parts on that 4 door that are marketable. It all depends on how you feel about the additional labor, storing and selling them. Some parts can bring decent money and help you with your original build.
Here are a few things if they are in decent shape -
Trim pieces of course
Cowl/firewall like Darter6 said. 64's are plagued with rusted cowls especially drivers upper corner area $$$.
Headlight buckets. wiper mechanism and arms, heater box, transmission crossmember, wiring harnesses, fuse block & bulkhead terminals, steering boxes, shock plates. front parking light assemblies, K frame, seat belts, door and trunk locks, shift cables and firewall plug, hood hinges, core support, radiator support, front splash shield (lower piece from the bumper to the grill), bumper brackets, fender splash shield, control arms, good frame rails, turn signal switch, window regulators and the list goes on.

64 Trunk lids seem hard to find. Hood next.
318 poly exhaust manifolds are prone to cracking so there's some demand for them.
Last spring I had a 65 heater box at a swap meet and could not believe the interest in it. Needs to be rust free.
3rd member. Just torch the rear end out of the car and cut the housing tubes to take it apart as there's zero interest in tapered axle stuff anymore.
Transmission cross member.
Valve covers if they're clean and straight.
Harmonic balancer
Power steering pump.
Steering column.

Take the whole car. You won't regret it.

I have completely disassembled two 65 Coronet 4 doors... I /tookcut everything off the car including the rear quarters... In fact, I just installed the floors from it in my 64 Savoy wagon. I’m with the guys here. Take the entire car.

That would be the easiest solution.... unfortunately the car is heading to Canada, so I need to remove what parts are worth salvaging and ship with the car.
