Aftermarket or different application Interior Seat Questions

I am trying to get the Coronet I bought in drivable condition, Every single car I got is on hold right now till I get my garage finished but I am trying to either round up parts or at least figure out where to get some parts.

My Coronet is a 66 and when I got it, it came with some hideous buckets seats out of maybe a mid eighties Thunderbird, and a even worse shifter mounted to the floor.

I would like to go with a set of bucket seats that look more period correct, or even aftermarket seats that aren't so ugly. Has anyone tried any other kind of seats that worked out well in a B-body? I am not looking for factory correct, just something that looks close, Any Pictures?

Also what else have y'all (you guys for the Up North People) used for floor shifters? Any other consoles fit this car?

Summit Racing buckets in my 70 Road Runner. They are $150 each plus shipping. I bought a pair for $150 at a swap meet.

Take a look at mid to late 80's Dodge 600 and 400 buckets.

I got a white leather set from a turbo convertible for $40.

The upholstery pattern is very simmilar to 60s and 70's style, and the back is low with a small adjustable headrest. Not too terribly out of character for my 66.


I did have to pound out the studs and drill one hole in each about 3/4 away from the factory hole.

As a bonus, they recline.


Got some new info after taking out the factory buckets in my brother's satellite:

Apparently there are two sets of holes in the floor for the outboard tracks. His were in the outer holes, mine seem to be in the inner. It also looks like the bucket tracks are offset, and the bench tracks are not. Both tracks look to be adjustable for height by about 1.5 inches.

I sure wish newer cars had this feature as I'm 6'3" with a long spine. I NEED that extra 1.5 between the seat and roof. With that said, the 600 seats sit about an inch lower than my factory bench without adjusting the track. Good for me.

Using the factory bench tracks (non offset) and inboard holes (I assume both holes are present on a bench car, but probably shouldn't) causes my seats to have a lot of space between the seat and door, giving much more than enough for the 600 seat's slide adjuster, but causes them to crowd the center tunnel. I have a factory "buddy seat" and it won't quite fit.

I tried to make the 600 seat tracks work, but couldn't although I have seen them made to work in a 1970.

I now have a set of factory bucket tracks, but the 600 seats are about 1 inch wider. I used the outboard bucket hole location, but had to drill the floor about 1 inch inboard of the factory bucket dimples.

Top picture is the 600 buckets in my 66.

Bottom pic is factory 67 buckets.

Pretty similar, if you ask me.

They look dang close and I don't mind getting the whole interior recovered in the same material so they look like they match. Thanks for the info.
Going to go look at a set of Polara seats today, Ratty but recoverable according to the guy. Cheap enough to.
