Again! Yes you would think Ive learned.

Nice find! Like Bryan said the dash lighst could be a number of things causing your intermittent problem. All things are pretty easy to check.
Get over here and download a service manual, it will be a huge help.

I don't thenk Chrysler EVER offered a 3.73.

If you have a fender tag, the axle ratio is listed for 67.

http://www.66-67charger.com/sourceguide/67fendertag.html

3.23 was EXTREMELY common on 4 barrel cars during the mid 60's.

axle ratio was not stamped on a 66 tag...(I wrote up the fender tag decode sheets for that site)

Sounds like with yer RPM that you have 3.23's in there....all 4spd cars came with 3.23 or lower gears in 66.....2.94 & 2.76 was not offered with a 4spd. Pic of fender tag would help...could it be that car is not a 4spd car originally?

Best way to tell what gears is jack up rear of car, mark one tire inside with chalk or something, spin tire exactly one revolution, count how many times driveshaft turns.

if almost 3 turns, it's a 2.94
if 3-1/4 turns, it's 3.23
if 3-1/2 turns, it's 3.55
if 3-3/4 turns. it's 3.73

all this above if you have a sure-grip in the rear end now.

I thought he said it was a 67.

...and than you AGAIN for that 66/67 tag decode!

Dont know why nobody jumped on it. He said he started at $4500 and dropped it $500 a week till he was at rock bottom for weeks at $2500. All the gauges work and are accurate. New exhaust, all new brakes, new tires, new battery, rebiult radiator and new hoses, New power steering lines and rebiult pump. Dash lights work on and off. I installed a new switch but didnt change things. Anyone have an idea why?

Good luck, it sounds like great project, that's a great price too... I look forward to reading some of your posts/threads...

Barrowed a friends hiost here in town to put in new rear shocks. So I snapped a few pics of the work in front of me. Pics of interior coming soon. 1966 charger 011.jpg1966 charger 012.jpg1966 charger 013.jpg1966 charger 014.jpg1966 charger 015.jpg1966 charger 016.jpg1966 charger 017.jpg Enjoy!
