Air Grabber ??

I wonder if AMD has any future plans to reproduce the ‘71-‘72 air grabber hood??Any one on here in the know? POPS

Since you can make a half convincing one
From a flat hood
I don't think demand would be enough ?
The charger hood they make covers 4 years of cars
Plymouth is only 2 years
Things I'm sure they think about
Before they make one.

i wanted a air grabber hood for a long time.
to the point of buying a flat hood and i was shopping for a bubble.
low and behold i came across a ad for one for a really good price ON HERE of all places!!
for about half of what people were asking
the pics were kind of bad in the ad
but he said it had no rust and it was all there in the pics
so i rolled the dice and i bought it and i picked it up at Carlisle
when i got it,it was rust free as advertised (woo hoo)
but
underneath had wood screws and all kinds of incorrect stuff holding it all together.
it was costly to make it right.

now you start adding up the other stuff you need outside of the hood
cans,switch,hoses, decals,paint to refinish.. ect
a air grabber hood just isn't cheap no matter how you slice/dice it
even if you get a good deal on one like i did.
I have a lot into mine

so if you are looking for or paying a lot
make sure it is all there as missing/extra stuff adds up mighty fast.

I bought my air grabber bubble from Stinger fiberglass - comes with air grabber door.

I'm in the process of building one as we speak. I found a good satellite hood locally and got a diagram of all the measurements to cut and drill the hood. I bought the bubble and door from stinger and had to do some modifications to the 4 bosses at the back of the bubble but I'm happy with it. The bubble and hood are going to need body work and color change to make it perfect. I did buy all the other parts ( air box, air cleaner, switches ) from pg classic and haven't had any problems yet and instead of painting it I'm going to have it wrapped ( satin or flat) I haven't decided to save money (75.00)instead of painting.

Here you go, this is what I'm using from jegs. I have them installed now during mockup. Once the center is cut out you will have enough room to get in there to install the nut on the back side.

I made fabricated a simple one-piece nut plate to slip into under structure for the actuator mounting. Holes are pre-stamped.

There is another mod needed on the bottom side, I don’t see it above, needed if you plan to run a factor air box.

There's a AG set up except for air cleaner and pie tin in jersey/PA border for 3000 I went and looked at it. Corners of the hood are rotted and door has a chip. I offered 1500 and they didn't even counter . Very nice people they just think it's gold. It would have cost me 5000 to get it back in shape

I would think someone could make some decent money converting flat hoods to accept Air grabber bubbles....It's like doing the shaker conversions except you are not adding any bracing...

Friend of mine over in the Springs sold a really nice setup for 3500.00. No rust or damage.

I agree with Quick Bp Bp,if someone would make a template and just drill and cut the opening in a flat hood. I am sure they could make a good buck. Anyone ever keep track of there hours?? Sure the first one is the toughest. Maybe someone will offer their services POPS

I thought about making some extra money cutting the hood for the AG and selling them. One of the problems is the satellite hood and finding them locally. Finding them and then having them shipped will cut into the profit. I have the measurements and posted them in the beginning of this post. Its not all that difficult to do just double checking all the measurements take time. Maybe 4 hrs worth of work
