Lately, I have been working on my 70 Charger R / T V code 440 Sixpack car. I have been trying to get the car in decent shape to sell it. The car is really starting to look like something! 20191103_132110.jpg 20190728_172010.jpg I was watching an episode of Roadkill the other night, and I had a batshit crazy idea. I got the idea to put a driveline in the car,and drive it next season, and possibly drive it to Carlisle, Roadkill style! So what should I do,stay on track, and get the car ready for Ebay, or put it together, and drive it! It has the matching numbers engine block in the car,but it needs to be built. My original plan was to build the original engine with a Source stroker kit and Source heads. Thats not in the budget, but I have a fresh 68 short block and heads for another project that I could throw together, and drop it in the car. I have a poly front end kit,a new gas tank and lines, new front brakes and lines,an 18 spline Hemi 4 speed setup, and a Dana 60 with new R/T leaf springs. I would have to buy a clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, and a new set of Sixpack carbs, but it's all stuff that I need for the other car anyway. I just bought an engine wiring harness for a 70 B body with electronic ignition, so I would also need a distributor and box too. But for a couple grand, I could be driving it next season. Have I lost my mind,or is doing something like this what it's all about. A ratrod V code Charger R / T is not something that you see everyday!

I would get it road worthy and drive the wheels off it and not look back.

Sounds like a great plan! 2k might be light though.

I’d put it together and enjoy the hell out of it. There’s already enough guys trying to squeeze every last dime out of these things. Drive it, enjoy it.

I think that it would be closer to 3 grand, because I need an exhaust system, but I already have the exhaust tips, and the seats are already done for the car too.

I say pound it out and run the hell out of it. Same idea for our Super Bee. Get it running and road worthy, DP90 after patchwork and enjoy it.

I'd do the same except I'd make sure that the wheels stay on.

bat sh*t crazy? Maybe...how stable is that lift? What locks it in place once you have it at the desired height?

Get it roadworthy and enjoy the adventure!

The lift has safety locks on it,the cars been on it for about two weeks, hasn't moved.

I don't really want to sell the car,but I figured that it was the car that would get me into a Hellcat Challenger the fastest. Now that I have fixed the worst areas of the car, it is looking like a car that could be put together and driven, and it would give me the opportunity to assemble the driveline that will eventually go into the 70 Charger R / T that is next to it in the picture of the car on the lift. By the time that car is ready for the driveline, I should be able to build the matching numbers engine for the white car.

All I ask is that you don't do irreversible damage to the car - and keep the matching block with it,
                                wherever it may wind up.

The engine will definately stay with the car.

I am currently doing the same type of thing. My 1971 Demon is a true documented GSS Mr Norms car. I found it last summer. Dad bought it new in 1971 and sold it in 1981. I put the car back to how he raced it back then. Ralley wheels out front, black steels in back. 440, tunnel ram, reverse pattern manual valave body, etc. Having fun while gathering all the 340 6 pack engine parts so it can go back to stock one day. Then the Super Bee.....will be similar story...enjoy it without irreparable damage or changes.
