American Racing wheels - hub centric or lug centric?

it's a 4 1/2 on 4 pattern , but at 18'' wide , i'm thinking a full on custom race car , some type of exotic racing . i have a pair of vintage american magnesiums in that libra style four spoke in 13x6 for an real bigs n littles look . some kind of ratfink build with a four theme , i thought these rims are so cool together on something . i've been doing rims for some time now , i've even made up some 15x15 myself from a pair of 14x6's centers and a pair of 12x15 super tricks .

Hub centric is most helpful
when wheel adaptors or
spacers come into play.
Especially when dealing
with extra-wide spacers that
are typically used by those
in the dragracing scene.
(the ability to change from
wide to skinny tires) where
the skinnies are used for the
drive home from the track.
The spacers stay on for
street use as the tires
disappear in the wheelwells
without them.
The hub centric feature
allows for just a bit more
load carrying capability over
just wheel studs alone where
the wheel studs may have
been stressed from prior
abuse. For a street car I'd be
wary of any excessive wheel
offset that places more
stress on the wheel
bearings.
I use hub centric spacers but
I also have the capability to
switch from a 12.50 wide
street tire to a 16.00 wide
drag slick.
