Looking to buy new shoes for my Super bee, any recommendations on who to buy from?
Rockauto a good place for brake shoes? Thanks! Dave

That, as we all know, is the worst mistake you can make.... This new garbage material will rip up your brake drums to smithereens.... As it grips and grabs and rips and shreds....
The ONLY way to go is +++ N.O.S. +++ Asbestos +++ the nicest, softest, smoooooothest braking surface known to mankind.....
And, the great news is that I have some (just sold 21 various +++ N.O.S. +++ Asbestos +++ brake shoes at the recently completed Chrysler's @ Carlisle -- and 11 sets of +++ N.O.S. +++ Asbestos +++ Brake Pads)
I would leave my phone number here, but forum rules prohibit that (how dare I be up front and honest!!!!!!!!)
P.M. me, if you want to treat your car right........
Yours, Craig.....

As much money as you've made here over time, you COULD always sign up as a vendor.
That way, you could advertise to your hearts' content.

I'm all for NOS asbestos as well, no doubt. I absolutely remember the infamous
day asbestos was outlawed in automotive brakes - and the disastrous time that followed,
where getting cars' brakes to bite with the "suitable environmentally friendly replacement"
at all proved futile.
Even today, with all the carbon this, ceramic that jazz, brakes have no doubt improved, but
warping a rotor happens more often than not - and rotors are now considered replacement
items the first time, not after a couple times being machined.

Your government, ain't they great? Always looking out for ya....

I've read some really positive reviews from fellow members about the stuff from
musclecarbrakes.com also....

A) Don't know how to do that.
B) Don't have unlimited supplies.
C) Don't have a computer -- only a tablet
D) I am not well versed in all the things that can be
done on a tablet... My friend is going to show me
after this coronavirus....
E) It doesn't always sell --- Only the smart people get
Quality parts !!!!!
But thanks for the suggestions....

That reminds me that years ago (about 25) auto parts stores like Parts America, sold lifetime guarantee brake pads and shoes.
It was all the rage with people who didn't work on there own cars, the parts store would guarantee them for life of the vehicle, well that was because the pads would EAT rotors.
I remember doing what felt like 100's of brake jobs, and the customers would always say, "I dont know why I need brake work, I bought the lifetime warranty pads?"
Yeah pads were fine, rotors and drums were not.
LOL, The places that sold them, made money in rotor sales, for sure.
The pads would just chew up the rotors, almost instantly.

You know enough to sit there and bust other peoples' chops just for asking advice and give them the
Red X though, don't ya? Yep, apparently so....
(Just so you know, that ain't cool. At all. Bad forum etiquette, red X-ing a fella just asking for advice).

You know enough to get on this thread and hawk your wares without using the proper "For Sale" forum
too, apparently....all the while taking snarky shots about forum rules.

You've obviously got the good stuff to sell - you've done so on eBay, here, no doubt other places online.
That's great! The hobby needs folks like you.
I'd just suggest that you don't a)bite the hand of those actually asking for help and b)bite the hand of
forums where you've had success selling.
Doesn't look good - for good reason.

Dave, as far as your original question goes, I just looked at RA's site and apparently some Raybestos, Bendix
and other brand name, long-time manufacturers still make shoes for our cars.
Definitely skip over the stuff like "Centric" and such and stick with the highest level brand names.

Obviously, none of the current offerings have asbestos in them, haven't for many years now by law - so
there's always the option of finding some new-old shoes, too.
Keep in mind there too that you might even run across aftermarket name brand stuff like Eis, Bendix, Raybestos,
etc. made back in the day that are asbestos based too, just like NOS Mopar ones.
Buzz words like "sintered metallic" or "semi-metallic" always caught my eye back in the day because they
had both the asbestos and the metallic particles in them, making for the best bite of all - but eating on drums
quicker in trade, too.

What brakes are on the car now, do you know? Have they been satisfactory to you?

Thats awsome….. But in the 700 or so miles I put on my car in the last 2 years I never even thought to track down NOS brake pads. sooooo Ill just call napa in ten years when I need new pads and rotors or drums and shoes.....If I still have the car.

I'm not sure what is on the car now but they have been on for 23 years or more and still in great shape. If it wasn't for my
axle seal leaking and getting the shoes soaked with oil I wouldn't be replacing them now. I did check rockauto and I am thinking of the Raybestos.
I just not too thrilled about the NOS shoes which have asbestos in them. Thanks, Dave

My prices are way less for unmatched Quality... And there is a chance I could be in Ohio in a couple weeks.......
Incidentally, Bendix, Raybestos, and Wagner are all sell outs, Hawking Chineseum
Garbage.... How the world turns.........

Well, there ya go then, Dave - if asbestos bugs you, NOS is out for sure.

(There ya go, West Hempstead. Hush...sheesh - you act like this and you actually want
to SELL people stuff? Unreal.)

Ok, back to Dave's actual questions:
Yes, the musclecarbrakes.com stuff is not cheap but they do come recommended by several
on this site who have used them. They're apparently quite aggressive shoes and bite hard, so
there's that.
If you're looking for more like factory stuff only without asbestos, then you're pretty much going
to have to go with the Raybestos or Bendix or some such - and again, make sure to fetch their
"best" line if you do.
Personally, back in the day, of all the aftermarket brake stuff, I was a fan of EIS brand stuff.
It was always top notch quality, but they've been gone a long time, so I'd have to find someone
who has a stash of their old stuff.

Anyways, for what you're looking for, sounds like it's Rock Auto for sure....
Have you checked with NAPA, by the way? Some of their stuff ain't half bad either.

for what its worth, i get all my brake hardware and supplies from Mobileparts... great prices and quality stuff.. never an issue..... Rich

Moparredtn,
For what it is worth, EIS was the very very best -- the softest smoooooothest ++Asbestos ++ on the market.
What did EIS stand for --- Edwin Irving Schwartz ---
That was my Uncle Eddie....
And that is why smart people utilize my goodies....
I will never ever twist anybody's arm to force them to use Quality....
Smart people (like Rich Hourigan above & MANY MANY others) have been grabbing it for decades.....
All my cars have N.O.S. Asbestos , of course....

I have N.O.S. Asbestos in the Mopar World, the
G M world, the Ford world, and beyond ....
I am lucky to meet a lot of smart people !!!!!!!
Yours, Craig....

Craig, Will you be at the MoparNats by any chance? Dave

SuperbeeDave,
Interesting question.....
I did the Mopar Nationals for 21 straight years -- coming 606 miles each way from Long Island, New York.....
As sales dwindled, and it is 15 actual hours driving time (not straight --- and in a HEAVY loaded van -- I
Have blown it off for the last 5 years....
I have to hire a friend to pull all the G M and Ford Out of my van -- to put in a whopper beautiful Mopar spread.
I haven't undone it yet -- My van is still all Mopar...
I am considering it -- specifically because here we are at the end of July and I have done exactly two (2) shows.... Because 99 % of the shows are cancelled.....
So, while my van is all Mopar, I AM considering doing the Nats.... Since I am not pre-registered, as I used to be, I might as well wait to decide -- and also wait on the forecast during the show situation.... No sense making that long a trek in a hurricane, for example (been there, done that, etc......).
So, I am squarely on the fence for now, truly 50-50...
I am set up to do it, and I may....
The 2 1/2 shows I do between Chrysler's @ Carlisle and the Mopar Nate are all cancelled -- which is why I am leaving my van all Mopar to maybe do the show !!!
For now, T B D.... To be determined......
Yours, Craig.......
