I went to Lutheran school, K-8th. Went to church and bible school every Sunday. Went to vacation bible School in the summer. All it did was make me understand religion and how it tries to brainwash you. I've talked to so many people I consider smart. They say it's all in faith. I can have faith in nursery rhymes it doesn't make them true. It's all how Jesus love you. When you dig deeper that doesn't stand up to to logic.

Any people living before Christ = Going to hell
Anyone living outside the Middle East= Going to hell.

Even Christians have issues with each other.

That is much like I what grew up with.
I am one of seven and our parents tried to give us kids exposure to religion for a rounding of our upbringing.
Mom and dad were heavy into the sciences and us kids soon learned that pushing religion on us was just another lesson about the world we needed to learn about.

I recall thinking that all the gods should have it out once and for all. Winner take all.
It's tough seeing so many millions of people dying over the centuries because of this issue of one god or no god.

What "god" means to me is natural order. Some creatures cull themselves before they starve themselves. The end result is an equilibrium until it is upset again.

great thread. If three generations of a family from 70 years of age down to 17 month old baby can be slaughtered in a church and people just argue over weapons, there is seriously no hope for this country.

yet parasites like alex jones and infowars to this day torment the families of first graders killed at newtown calling it a hoax and trolling the parents. I knew one of the kids who was killed, it happened five years ago and still makes me sick to this day.

I view religion as the sky hook in the children's story. The bird didn't know he could fly so the bird was given a sky hook. His belief in a fictional tool allowed the bird to fly. If you want to believe that's fine, just know others are comparing you to Islam and Buddhism. Don't put them down for believing in a fantasy while you do so yourself.

Because you believe in a fictional character, I'm not thinking deep enough. Kuddos to the moderators for letting this thread mature. I know it's against the rules but it's like talk at the water cooler. I think it may help some people.

The ironic thing here is every time someone asks for prayers I say them, on this board or in real life. If it helps them great but I would never pray for anything to my benefit. I would consider it blasphemous.
