I have a '64 330 with stock suspension and I want to fill the wheel wells up with nice big deep-dish vintage nascar style wheels & tires. I measured what I think is a maximum of 4.5" backspacing in the wheel wells of the 330.

I've been doing a bit of searching around here and other places, and I'm finding that a lot of folks with the early b's are running 275/60/15 rears on 15x8's without issues, and up to 245/60/15's up front on 15x7's without issues. I wonder if those sizes are pretty much the accurate limit with stock suspension and no fender rolling/mini tubbing/etc.. or if even more can be fit in those wells.

Maybe a 15x10 rear even? or is that mini-tub territory? Fattest front wheel & tire without rubbing? do tell.
Is 4.5" backspacing the max or would more/less work for the deep dish theme? What about 16's? :)

4.5 back space is about as perfect as you can get it. The max of 8 inch wheel is right without mini tubbs. I have 15x10 w/ 4.5 " backspace and they will rub on a turn or uneven ground with 28.5x11.5x15 which is a 275/60/15 tire. I have a spool which creates some of the problem. Everyone I hang with with early B body has either 15x7 or 15x8 with the 4.5 back space. Good luck.

I think the nail has been hit on the head!
