Any Ford guys out there, have a 66 Fairlane question

The Ranchero actually took me to work (and back) today because the new Dodge truck was in the shop. Today I can say that Ford backwards does not mean Driver Returns On Foot.

The big issue on the uni-body fords to look at are the cowl vents as they rot out which in turn rots the floor out. Second and more important are the torque boxes front and rear the are prone to rot and with cause poor handling. The other areas that you want to check are where the steering box bolts to on the front frame rail and where the idler arm bracket mounts they tend to be a problematic area. I have own a few of theses over the years and still have a 62 Fairlane and a 66 Falcon.

I like the stacked light look, but I'd prefer this...

Back in the 70's, my wife's (was my girlfriend back then) first car was a '67 Fairlane. We found a fairly decent two door with buckets and console auto and 390, all for $450. She was happy because it had a bigger engine than my 383 road runner. It had a trunk full of chrome and spare glass backup lenses plus the hood inserts that I ended up installing. Good old days...
