I thought I knew pretty much everything about 60's muscle. I guess not. 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 427. 425hp.

Older guy next door to me had one back in the day.... absolute beast of a car.

Dad had a '67 Fairlane back around 1973/1974. I doubt Dad's was the rare 500 model you mention Steve. Mom was 14 or 15 in this pic. Pretty cool car IMO.

I have a friend who had a 67 Fairlane, green just like that one.....
Had a stroked 460 cj in it,(514"). It ran okay....

....mid 10s.

Had a glass 427 hood on it, but was faster than the 427.

I thought all the “R” codes came with this hood, and functional scoop.

There is a black '67 427 Fairlane up here in my area that comes out to local cruise nights occasionally. His brother had a black '66 Coronet 2-door sedan, with Hemi, 4-speed.

According to the article, the scoop hood was standard on a 66 427, optional on a 67.
My buddies 67 514, and our other friend's 66 408 both had the 427 hood, but I don't think either one was "the real thing".

There was a '66 R code at MCACN this year. The display board says 1 of 57 that year. Cool car.

hung out with a kid who had a 66/67 Fairlane 390 4 sp........ 390 and 427 occupy the same space, so why not?

Years ago, I Purchased a 67 Fairlane Convertible in Wimbledon White and Black Interior. Looked all stock and just like your grandpa would drive. Until you turned the key- Stroked 460 w C9 heads and c6 transmission and more. Sold it a few years later and still regret that- but it introduced me to the sleeper look that I'm working on the Charger.

I may rub some members as I maintain that, if wasn't playing with MOPARS I would be playing with Fords...Just my take is all!!! cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

Think I'd be playing with AMC's vs Fords. Always have like the AMX's and well, had my fill of the Ford legacy of breakage during the 70's. Don't know about the larger sized cars but the smaller ones like the Mustangs and Cougar had that God awful power steering setup. Got rid of mine by replacing the drag link and slave....steering box is divorced from it all.

Wonder if they built any monster 427 Comets in 66/67? I prefer those over the oval even though they are brother and sister.

I like oddity cars.
Heres another Ford oddity
A factory 428 4 speed buckets wagon
