Can a vin be obtained from just the numbers from trunk and radiator mount. From what I understand there a sequence number so I imagine there is not two of the same.

The last digits of the vehicles vin should match with the numbers on the radiator support and trunk rail. Unless they have been replaced with donor parts from other cars or new sheet metal.

However, the first characters of the vin won’t be there but one still should be able to figure most of those out. You won’t get original engine and plant info and if engine isn’t original really Goodall never be sure unless you’ve known the car and knew what was in it originally..

Here’s a site if one knows the entire vin, it will spit out info..

Here’s a link to allpar that will explain each character and you might be able to piece together if you know about your car..

What year car are you questioning? 68 and older did not use the VIN but rather a sequence number that matches fender tag and build sheet.

Does the B9 in front of the numbers refer to year and plant made at ?

I think b is the engine code, 9 signifies 1969, next letter is assembly plant
Example; RM 23 H9G , two door, medium grade, hardtop, h for 383, g is assy plant.
You don't have a vin on the dash or title?

Car was titled a 69 and the vin matched title. Vin does not match body. Both radiator support and trunk lip match . DMV where title came from said it was always titled a 69 from as far back as they can see records. Would have never noticed till title came back a 68 in my state

B9 on the body stamps would therefore come up as 9B on the Fender and VIN tags... 1969 Hamtrack vehicle.

What is your vin? Is it a very early 69? with maybe 68 body parts? 68L48Z27 is right, the vin wont match body numbers on a 68. We don't really need the last six numbers if you're shy, but they will tell how early your build is.
dadsbee post came up while i was typing(slowly). I'm SURE he's right.

from what I can tell the body numbers look like part of a vin and not an order number.

You're going in circles... post a picture already of the body numbers and the VIN tag on the dash!

Sorry if I'm talking in circles. I'm at work tonight and don't have any pics.
Car title said 1969 and vin on title matched the dash. When new title came back said 1968. That of course is when I knew there was something not right. Called state it was titled in and they said that vin registers to a 69 as far back as they can go. The numbers on trunk lip and radiator support do match. I know it had B9 then six digits after that. The 6th digit of vin on dash is an 8 . This is the vin that was also on title that said 1969.

You saying the date digit, being the sixth digit of the VIN, says for example WM21H8B123458 or are you saying the last six digits are 123458.. and if so that 8 has nothing to do with the date and your DMV F'd up! Yours should be for example WM21H9B123458.. but if it's "H8B" then you have an issue.

It's the sixth digit of VIN. The DMV from the state I bought it from said that vin registers to a 69 as far back as they can search. The 8 in the vin makes it a 68. I verified the title to the vin which was a match.

What are we discussing here? Road runner, satellite, coronet, super bee, what?
If the body numbers are b9 xxxxxx and match the last six of the vin, and the fender tag, and it's got 69 sheet metal and grill and taillights, it's likely a mis-stamp from the factory, and the paper work just reflects that.
I'm assuming you don't have the fender tag.

No fender tag. It's a charger. The last six of vin do not match the six on body. When I made the deal I looked at title that said 69 dodge and verified the vin on dash matched the title. I only now looked at the body numbers when the title came back as a 68. As I said I talked with the DMV that had issued the original title and they can only say that vin registers to a 69 as far back as there records go. That just seems odd
I guess I'll have to work with my DMV to see what I can do.
With the body numbers last six digits and plant built at I can put a 69 vin together with everything except an engine code . I ran every engine code in the vin and come up with no records.
I was looking for a logical explanation but I feel that does not exist.

It does not have original engine in it. It has an aluminum headed 440. The vin digit on dash for engine is G.
