Not sure, but its looking more and more like i got the wrong carpet…. (Came in a box when car was purchased).
Aside from being in a box for 12 years, i tried like crazy to get rid of all the folds and creases to no avail. Steam, heat gun, nothing worked. On top of that, i cant figure out why there’s a molded hump BEHIND the hump for the shifter… see picture. I filled it with foam, but still looks like crap. Original buyer indicated he bought for a 4 speed car. With the hump being a mess, and the overlap between the front and rear pieces does not exist, at best they barely meet up. IMG_6968.jpeg

I bought ACC, fit ok. Wasn’t as smooth or tight as I would have liked.
I had mine out of the box and unfolded for about a year while other was done.

Yea, im wondering if the brand that Classic sells would be better?
What i really don’t get…. Is the molded hump (see picture) seems to be too long? The forward part of it is where the shifter is, but at least 8” in back of tge shift (towards rear of car) theres nothing underneath?
Im doin something wrongIMG_6969.jpeg

Maybe it's not a b body carpet. I think it's all made by acc these days. I purchased 2 acc carpets from rockauto. 1 was a real dud with bad fitment and burn holes. They replaced it and didn't want the other one back. If you get a new one, test fit it right away and have them replace if it sucks.

What is that for?

71-74 had two different shifter locations.

Classic says theirs is”OER” brand, wonder if still made by ACC

Here's some tips and tricks. I don't think you could have any worse than this.

Nice write up… i also TRIED with heat gin, spray adhesive, and weights on top of it.
But i believe you hit nail on head- my carpet box (came with the car) was dated 2013!
Rock Auto has the best price if all suppliers I’ve found. Their website indicates a “3 day delay “ on shipping. I’m hoping because supplier will make it to order. Can’t call rockauto to ask if they’re sitting in a box for months

Yes, the ACC carpet I put in my 67 auto was a bit baggy around the console. I disguised it as much as I could. It actually fit better when slid forward a little but that threw the heel pad off with respect to the accelerator. I think it was worse on the passenger side as the accelerator pedal pinned it down on the driver side.

First thing you do is take it OUT OF THE BOX... it's taken a set for 12 years now. I'd just get a new carpet now.

Yeah, gonna order from Rockauto… probably a crap shoot how long its been in their box

I have ACC carpet in 4 vehicles, fit absolutely perfect in 3.
In one, which was vehicle #3, it seemed to fit at first, but soon realized it probably was for a different year, but too late as I already trimmed it.
If I ever get another and it doesn't fit out the box it's going back.

All ordered via Summit, least expensive way with free shipping, last vehicle RockAuto was least expensive.

For the Mopar Market, no matter where you are purchasing the carpet kits from, they are all a ACC product.

I had the same problem with ACC for my 4 speed 67 Charger. I ordered the carpet, waited 6 or 7 months and when I installed it, the fit was terrible around my 4 speed hump. It is really a shame, we pay top dollar for the right carpet from a company like ACC, who claims to be the best, and the carpet does not fit our 4 speed humps.

Not the best pic, black carpet doesn't help, but fit my 62 just fine.

I had the same thing happen with the last carpets. Previous ones were taken out of the box and used quickly. Not a problem. Last set I got, sat in the box too long, and had problems getting the correct fit.
After steam cleaning and using weights things are looking better.

My ACC carpet in my 67 Charger fit fine. My only issue with fit was there the two large sections meet up along the front seats. There was almost not enough carpet to overlap so I added a little on the underlaying section just to keep it uniform. After that there were two big issues with my carpet. 1) The rear console carpet was a different black and 2) ACC thought the front console was the same for 66 and 67 so did not include the small piece of carpet for the rear part of the front console. Did educate them on that. So make sure you look thru all your carpet as soon as you get it and lay it out for a few days at least before you start installing.

I have had very good response fron ACC if the carpet does not fit right. I have always installed the carpet within a month or so. They have replaced the carpet if my pictures show the problem. And the replacement comes very quick.

I have used their carpet in 6 of mine or buddy's cars with no issues. One red in color. The rest were all black. It wasn't very fun trimming around all the monkey bars with this jungle gym in my blue Challenger.
