Anyone into scifi films?

We're trying to get through the latest season of "The Expanse".

Unfortunately they have deviated a great deal from the first what, 7 seasons.

The first were GREAT, and each could stand alone as a complete series.

I absolutely LOVE the "this really could be the future" aspect of the detail and believability put into their universe.

"Forbidden Planet" is clearly the inspiration for "Star Trek".

Just substitute Shatner and Nimoy for Leslie Nielsen and crew and the plot is the same formula.

The first 3 of alien
The first predator movie
Back to the future the 3 of them.
Matrix ( my Personal favorite)
Terminator 1 & 2
Great list. Love Matrix and even though they were all made around the same time, 2 & 3 just went in a different direction.

I try to forget there even is a 2nd or 3rd one, and soon to be 4th one. The 2nd one is ok-ish, but the 3rd is so lazy and predictable. If you've read the Dune books, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Speaking of Dune, looking forward to that.

Dune, love the book, not so much the movie, but the book is great.

The dune books written by Frank Herbert were amazing, when his son took over the franchise after his death and teamed up with Kevin Sanderson the quality of the writing is sub par at best. I have read all the books in the series from the Butlearian Jihad on up through the God Emperor because I love the universe, but some of the books were a slog to get through and just frustrating in the way that they have to regurgitate the previous chapters very so often as if the reader has the attention span of a goldfish.

Here's a few random ones:
Evolution - 2001
The Signal - 2014
Galaxy Quest - 1999
The Forth Kind - 2009

Ah- aaaaaaaaaaaH
