It seems that the majority of the Mopar people shy away from anything modified or caged for racing, yet there’s lots of examples of pro-touring type cars that bring big money, but rarely caged cars. What are your thoughts on modifying these cars and, in particular, adding cages for racing?

I'm one of those who shy away from caged vehicles, unless I'm looking for a strictly race only car.
Never know if cage welded right in the necessary positions, difficulty getting in/out? The stigma was it beat on, was it a mall crawler meant to look like a race car, I just say no, but that's me, there's plenty of good examples as well, just not for me. I think my only exception if i was making a NASCAR tribute.

It's your car. Do whatever you want with it is how I always feel. There is so many forged/fake musclecars out there these days. I am not a numbers matching kind of guy. If it looks good, runs good and sounds good. It is a cool car for me. Stock restoration cars do look cool to see, but I like building them my way. I caged, mini tubbed my Challenger and cruise and race it. Everything I did was done so it can always be turned back to more stock when I am too old to get in and out of it anymore. I say cut them up..

Cages definitely hurt resale value unless you're selling to someone who actually wants to race it, most buyers see it as a sign the car was beat on hard.

If your making big power , the uni bodies will twist , I put a 6 pointcage in mine for that reason only . I really didnt want to ---but...

I have seen several very high horsepower Willys' lately, none of which had a bar/cage in it. To me, it signifies a worthless poser. WHY build a 1000 hp car, and not make it safe, or race-able?

I watched this build on moparts and I believe Yellowbullet back in the day. One of the first ever 25.3 mopars. Love it.

Some insurance companies do not like a cage in a street car
Have a buddy that had a cage in his charger and he had trouble finding insurance for it
