Are the 383 and 440 rear oil seals the same?

Looking on the Rock Auto site, it lists the Fel Pro 40240 rear seal kit as the same for both series of engines. I thought the B series had smaller main bearings. I guess they shared rod journal sizes and rear mains too ?

Yes it is. The bearing surface for the seal is not contiguous with the rear main journal. :). A bigger question is, which seal kit is the best????

Yes the Slant shared the same as the Big Blocks. Tough little buggars !
The extra seal pieces in the seal kit are for the Slant and not used in the Big Blocks.
