Just found a car for sale.I've never heard of 68 Belvedere1 hemi
car.It has rubber mat floors,a/t on column, and 4spd setup comes with.I can't find listing GTS books. The lady says her son ordered it new.I'll be looking for docs&build.sheet when I go look. Just wondered if anybody ever heard of such a car.How do I get phone pics to download here? Will post when i get them

68 j

Pretty suspect. Mopar went away from being able to order any engine in any model. By 68, if you wanted the hemi, you needed to buy this model, called a Roadrunner or GTX.
confirm or post the vin and fender tag to start. better see a J in code

The above is true but as always, never say never. However if it is a true factory built car as stated the burden of proof is always with the seller when it comes time to move it down the road.

First of all, there was no designation of Bel I or II in 1968. Only a Bel., Sat., Sport Sat., RR, or GTX.

There is certainly the possibility of this happening as it did in the Dodge sister car line. My GG white books are old and there may be updated versions that have changed data in them as NEW cars are discovered from time to time. The books I have show that there were 2 factory built Hemi Coronet 440 models shipped, both with 4 speeds. In fact, GG at one time owned one of these cars.

Today it is likely that people will want to see at the very least a fender tag proving this car and some will still doubt it without a broadcast sheet.

Thanx I know about J code, hear ya on never say never. It happens its a shoe string relative of my wife's in law side. Its the well Scott's into those old cars ask him.I can't wait!I've known of the car but always thought 6/3 on the tree cause of rubber floor.

My 66 Hemi car was factory built as a 4 speed rubber floor mat car and still is.

I'm doubtful this exists. After all a Road Runner is a basic Belvedere with go fast parts so why would they bother with putting a HEMI in a Bel?

Well, The Road Runner was introduced later in the year, prior to that, the Hemi would have only been available in the GTX... It could be possible that Ma Mopar wanted to continue offering the Hemi in a cheaper car, so an early-production or pilot car Hemi Belvedere sounds possible... but it would need to be very well documented, unlike a certain XP Hemi Charger....
It does sound like something I'd like to build one day, a ''phantom'' flat-hood basic 68-69 Hemi Belvedere, just to be different... Maybe a four door? Hmmmmm...
Over the years, we have learned to never say never with Chrysler!

I always thought the RR was available from the beginning of the model year??
The SB WAS a late year intro.
Either way, it COULD have happened. If someone wanted a sleeper car and the buyer pushed it with the dealer the factory WOULD have built it.

The RR was available at the first of the model year but only as a coupe. The RR HT and SB coupe were mid year introductions.

Well I go look today or tomorrow, will send pics of it.Hoping for the best& prepared for the worst.

The car never existed. It was a hoax we were all roped into believing it was real.

I was wondering about this myself.....damn....thanks for resurrecting this thread.

Ok,car does exist.I went to look at it,its a 1969 Belvedere 6/at bare bones car.The son bought it new and bought Hemi motor/4 spd setup for the car in '70.His sister ended up with the whole thing. She became a doctor took car to TX for 20yrs.Moved back to IL and a cousin of mine babysat for Doc for 5yrs.She drove it to take kids around. They gave it her as a graduation present! Now I have a chance at it.She on the fence because of sentimental value.Yes the Hemi setup is with the Doctor, she knows what it is
I'm not pushing.Being patient as I have never had a chance like this. How do I post pics from I-phone?Got one of it buried in garage, cant get it to post.

69 Belvdere

Looks like a 69 to me....but that's ok too. Is it a 2dr post car?

Yea its a 69 2dr post. It's buried in the garage.Just being patient about getting it.Guess the Hemi story is toast,Brother sold all parts years ago.Just a 6/3spd but still a TX body pretty darn clean.

Well, hell- at least you still got a shot at a solid car to start with. Running gear can be changed a lot cheaper than sheet metal. Either way, good luck and keep us posted!
