Curious about pros and cons….
Didn’t know BendPak were made in china

We had a BendPak 9000 4 post drive on in our shop for over 10 years.
220 volt, used everyday.
Replaced the Deadman switch once and the cables once.
We lubed every moving part once a month and oiled the cables twice a year.
If their other models are like ours they are good.

One of my concerns is i don’t see that this particular model is ALI certified

I have a Worth, made in Fort Worth Texas, About 23 years old.

Thanks guys, but trying to see if anyone has the model i named in thread title, and used it under a B body

I've had my Direct Lift for over 10 years now and have no complaints. Incredibly well made and certified.
Agreed. My 2 post is now 13 years old, 4 post 6.

No, I've never used a scissors lift for anything.

I have two of the Bendpak 6000 lb scissor lifts.

I've had my Ram 1500 short bed regular cab, and my '69 and '70 Chargers on them.

This first one that I bought used, looks like this one:

The second one that I bought new a couple of years later, has a few differences - like the arms are yellow instead of black, and in place of a nut welded to the end of the arms to put the stop bolts in, there are drilled and tapped holes.

The latest version I've seen has a pretty major change that I don't like, and has doubled in price since I bought mine.

So other than the drilled and tapped arm holes, any issues lifting your Chargers?

I was in the market for a scissor lift, and explored a number of models. I also checked out a neighbour with one, although not a bendpak, was similar in design and operation. Things he was unhappy with included

- multiple cross bars between the lift bars really limited underside access
- small footprint was a concern for stability, although he had not experienced any
- he put steel plates under the side of the scissor that moves as it was starting to gall his concrete.
- moving the lift with the unit did not allow him to position it easily without moving the vehicle as he could not push it in far enough.

I ended up buying an Atlas Versa Lift 7000lb. Pros included

- One cross bar which ends up being around the b pillar
- Large footprint
- unit does not move on the ground when lifting
- supplied bars allow for easy movement and positioning with vehicle stationary, and no need to lift one end to wheel around
- fully adjustable lift contact arms which are similar to a two post
- robust positive lock that cannot fail

I optioned the caster kit which allows me to lower the car and move it while still on the lift.

Currently swapping the starter on the firewall side of my 2.2 Laser, and have full access to underside of the engine bay to remove driveshaft to get it out. I have a floor mat I can lay against the cylinder lift bars and as the lock is on the floor I have no concern.
