Bent Pushrods-Trickflow 240 Heads

Did you use a high pressure/volume oil pump?
No - I do not use high volume pumps unless the flow is too low. Having to bypass the additional oil is detrimental, especially if you don't need it. Don Scinto convinced me of that back in the 80's.

So the 45-55 is typical or sufficient?
Old rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm. 55 psi at 5500 rpm is fine.

I need to look at the last runs, but pretty sure that my 1060hp drag motor built by Tony Bischoff (about as good as they come engine builder) never gets past 70 psi even close to 8000 rpm. Tony says that is good.

I have not heard of oil weights being crucial to hydraulic roller cams either.
I'm not dismissing it, it is just that this is the first time I've heard it mentioned.

10 consecutive pulls sounds excessive. Is that routine? 5500? Put my limiter at 4850 and Manton Rods outta Lake Elsinore, California. No problems since.

I checked the data logger on the race car. I only have 3 real runs on this motor so far. Max oil pressure never exceeded 72 psi and that was at 7800 rpm.

The high volume pump was giving me 55 and 65psi with acceleration.

Thanks

For what its worth I've varied oil pressures in my 580" 7100 rpm Indy motor. 45 psi wasn't enough, shined the rod bearings. Not good. 65 psi no issues, bearings looked great. Re bushed the lifter bores from .003" to .015". Raised the pressure to 80 psi. 375 runs since. Didn't bother anything. HV pump using 5/25 JR 1 oil rods. 0027", mains .0028".
