Perhaps Seal-All? I have used it to fix fuel leaks before. Works great with fuel.

A cake of hand soap will work wonders for sealing gas leaks.
A little bit of water and make a thick paste - then mold it around the leak area or seal and let it set.

There are bulkhead connectors made for this purpose. Google "fuel pump wire bulkhead" and pick a style that you're comfortable with...
Seal-All is the best sealant for all kinds of fluids. The main ingredient is magic.

I have used seal all on a motorcycle gas tank. Worked great.
My sending unit for the fuel gauge is now on the top of my tank. But the fuel pick up still exits from the side, about half way down. It has a calk style gasket. Not sure what goop I used.

That would be great-except it beeds a 9/16 hole, and 3/8” thickness to mount.
The fuel sender plate is pretty thin
