Best way to install "Coronet 500" fender emblems when they don't have any holes!

I want to put the fender emblems "Coronet 500" back on my on my '66 2-dr. hdtp. Only problem is that neither fender has the mounting holes so I am trying to figure out the best way to measure before I start drilling holes in the fenders and screwing this up. Thanks
 
Will be watching. This is something I have to do as well.
 
I can't help with location. However, if the holes were there but filled, you might be able to see them from the backside.
 
Same emblem holes issue being discussed over on fabo.
In my case, I had to gather a tone of pics, ended up blowing up a pic and printing to get some sort of template.
Mopar emblem template file needed.
 
Why not use 3m trim adhesive?
Because you'd have to hack a TON of mounting tabs off and you'd likely never get them all straight.

Those poor Coronet quarter panels look like they got hit with a mini Tommy gun or something when you take all those letters off!

I would definitely try to find someone with a car that has the letters off and have them make a pencil rubbing of the holes. I'm sure there's a more high tech way to do it like scanning and scaling a photograph but that's beyond me!

A dremal tool would make quick clean work on the mounting tabs. Levels keep things straight.

If I'm not mistaken, you're thinking of a 67.
 
I had to do the same on my 70 and was lucky enough that the holes had been filled. As mentioned before, check inside the fender first, you may get lucky.

That's what I thought when I first read the question.
I even posted a reply to that effect, but deleted it after re reading.

If I ever get my 66 Coronet project going, I'm going to have to mark out holes for the 440 side trim and emblems on one fender, as it came from a DeLuxe.
