I have a 70 383 block that has no VIN or ID numbers
I got it from a guy that bought 71 4x4 truck that told me it got an engine replacement during warranty
I have it earmarked for 12.5’s on alcohol for a gasser but got to thinking it might be worth stupid money for someone trying to restore something needing a 383, now I know a 440or 426 would be a lot more desirable but those cars are getting scarce
Now it would take a lot to change my plans but just throwing it out there, what do you guys think it’s worth ?

$500? More than $100 and less than $1000

Agree with Mike. Especially with a blank pad, which is what a person doing a factory resto would want to go with his/her model car as that's what the car show people will see. The cars are getting scarce for sure, but 383 and 440 blocks are definitely not...some guys can't give them away. If you aren't in desperate need of the few hundred clams I'd go with your original plan to build it for yourself. Remember too that selling things like that nowadays can be more hassle than they're worth! Good luck either way.

Not sure what all he's asking about here, but that manifold is $500 alone. Good chrome OEM valve covers are not EZ to find anymore in great shape..... the 383 itself, eh, big deal, they made more of them than any other motor. Wonder what heads we're looking at??

I agree. I don’t understand it.
The top pad looks like the block has been decked..... I wonder if the side pad has a number, or if theres a hole where the warrantee block tag rivet was placed? Either way, ya, not much effect on value, if any.

Yep , machined deck.
A guy could make no stamping blocks all day long..

If you don’t have your original block it’s the next best thing

I personally don’t care if my car is or isn’t numbers matching as you can see from my cars
