Was built mostly for the wow factor. Took it to the local car show. Won #1 People's Choice. Got an old '71 383 4spd Air Grabber Road Runner that needs a bunch of work. No engine or trans in the car but I do have the original transmission. Told Cody if I sell the Road Runner we'll use the money to finish the Challenger.
Would probably be tough to build a flat hood with all the bulges to hide it all but man, hiding it all would sure look stealthy and make people wonder what the heck is under that crazy looking hood lol
Just got back from the chassis dyno. The 5.7L engine is listed as 375HP to the flywheel. The stock 2009 5.7 made 270 RWHP. Today w/9# boost the stock 2011 Challenger engine made 482 LB-FT and 497 HP to the rear wheels, about 620 flywheel horsepower.
The kid knows, I don't. The dyno operator and Cody were talking about the turbo size today and Cody said something about 35's. They were made for 4 cylinder engines and Cody chose them so we didn't get too much boost on the stock engine. It was just a test to see if the system would work. Now that it does, when we can we'll up grade the car drive train, build an engine, go bigger turbos and shoot for 2000 HP.
No joke, the kids goal is 2 grand. I'm pretty sure we can get 800 normally aspirated.
