busted knuckle pictures

I have one that still haunt's me but I didn't get a picture .. 3 pound sledge, me holding brake drum out of the way while my dad hammered on a pickle fork to break loose the upper ball joint as hard as he could .. which was with considerable force

He's a graphic depiction of me afterward

You need one of these to constantly remind yourself….

I had a mishap with the torsion bar adjuster failing when I was trying to do a small adjustment on Saturday. There was a loud bang and it blew the wrench backwards and split my palm open. Required around 12 stitches. I had to change the dressing this morning so this was the first good look I had of it since it happened. I also included pictures of the where the opposite adjuster bolt was and where that one ended up when the threads let go.

When I first got my Charger 25 years ago, I was new to mopars, and was trying to even out the ride height. My common sense told me I should get the weight off of it before making adjustments. So I did, then realized the only way to settle the suspension afterwards was to drive back and forth. On my 3rd adjustment, I put the jack under the car, and then talked myself out of jacking it up due to laziness and it only needed a half turn. So I reached back and started to turn the ratchet. BAM!!! With no time to react, all the threads on the block stripped and the car slammed down (luckily) on the jack I had put in position. It was still low enough that my nose was smashed against my face, another inch might've cracked my skull. One of the many times I've cheated death!

Doesn’t the FSM say to adjust with the wheels on the ground? I’ve done it both ways, but with the weight on I use a big ratchet and pipe.

Years ago I was stripping a 70 Chrysler 300. I was pulling engine and trans.
I was in a hurry.

I had the front wheels on ramps I think.
I was laying off to the side and thought I was removing the transmission cross member, with an air impact.
I was actually removing the screw for the torsion bar cross member. When it came loose it slammed the impact to the floor, luckily it was square to the floor and didn’t glance sideways. It pinned the impact to the floor.

I hate to think what would have happened if I had been under the impact.

Wow, glad I just changed out that hardware for new on my 66. Hope it’s not chinesium steel. Hope that heals up OK.

masking tape and super glue, not in that order
In the 70's I was working in the roll shop at a steel mill and was helping one of the machinists that was cutting a ball bearing roll (large threads basically) on one of the only machines that could do that within the ARMCO circuit. The machinist couldn't get the machine to make chips instead of slivers so I was 'guiding' them into a dumpster using a long handle hook. One of the slivers got hooked on the roll and I started to fight it and when I decided it was a losing battle, I turned loose of the handle but the sliver had turned loose a split second sooner and it sprang off at me catching my gloved left hand cutting two tendons. I knew it was probably a bad cut but didn't realize it was that bad. The rehab was way worse! Ya don't want to cut tendons!!

After that gets all healed up and haired over, you should see a palm reader, and hear what she says! LOL

I have the same wonderment - getting one of these on each hand

Makes my skin crawl just looking at that.....

Right handed thank goodness, but it is a challenge to tuck my shirt in.
Only time I tuck my shirt in is during the winter time!

after reviewing this thread; I've either been lucky or good....... I'll go with lucky :thankyou:
I know I've been lucky. How many has flipped a go cart end over end and didn't get a scratch? That happened in 67 iirc then about 20 years ago I rolled one pretty hard. Didn't break anything but had road rash all over me including my head. Yeah, no helmet. It wrenched my back pretty good too. I'm thinking the guy above has grace over me.....

CTS surgeries before having a 2nd neck fusion, have a hardware store in my neck now. One reason why I installed headrests in the ’63. You are luckeee to have come out of those crashes without more serious injuries. Remember the recent weird fatal injury to a guy with John Elway falling out of a damn golf cart?
