Buyers remorse!!!

Ok say I parted it out what's it worth 489 case big yoke and axle assume
The deal was it is what it is at $500 what would you guys say a it's worth as it's broken ?
Priced axle housings lately. He got one heck of a deal bad diff or not.

So i offered to just give him the money back and fix it myself! He much rather keep it he says and wants some money back . I'm just going to give him the cash and not sell to him in future
Unfortunately you’ll always be considered the bad guy in his eyes no matter what you so. Funny how a relatively small transaction sours friendships and the one that is bitchin or owes money says the friendship is over.

This is why I give things like this to a person I know that needs it. I hate to deal with people that I end up having to give a beat down. Total waste of my time.

What was the outcome with this? Had a so called friend get mad a me because of a deal that went bad. He says "I thought we were friends" and my reply to him was "friends don't treat friends like you've treated me" and that was the end of that. About 25 years ago I built a rear end for an acquaintance (same guy) who gave me some up front money to buy the parts. After I got done with it I called him to let him know it was ready for him to pick it up but he never came for it. After a month, I called again with him saying he'll be by in few days. Another month goes by and in my 3rd call I say "more than a few days have by and I'm tired of stepping over it and just really do not have the room to store a rear end". He said he'd get it this weekend. Another month goes by and he's no longer answering my calls but there's a swap meet coming up and well, being that I usually attended this one every year since a lot of Mopar people showed up there, the D60 went into my truck with a lot of other parts I had for sale.

Lo and behold, who shows up!? I had just sold it and the new owner just walked off to get his pickup. Old owner asks "is that my Dana?" and my reply "was your Dana" and the look on his face was priceless! Turns out he didn't really care that much about it but he said he needed a bell housing and a flywheel and I had that there and we thought it was fair enough. Think I heard from him one other time since then and that was it.

Hey guys guess I didn't have this make notices to me . So long story short I sold him something else he wanted (I was going to chuck) at a deeply discounted price.
This made everything good we were all better ..... Some time later He wants my 340 offered ok money for it heads and motor were at machine shop he calls said I'm down here at shop and see your stuff I'm looking it all over I wanna buy it !
He gave a number told him fine come get rest of it (new parts in garage)
2 weeks later , I get a text hey man one of the heads were cracked!

I replied that sucks . And haven't spoken to him since !
He looked them over knew what he was buying they were there to get checked cleaned.....

He didn't ask for anything but still why bring it up . He even called the guy I bought car from to ask how it ran when I bought it witch he said exactly what I said it ran good .
It sucks but that's what you get buying used parts he could of asked the shop to check everything first but he didn't .

I built a tranny for a friend 4 years ago. He says back hen that he can’t get it to shift right. I say bring it back. He didn’t have time then but still drove the crap out of it. Last spring I get it back cause he wants a manual valve body put into it. He had put on an aluminum deep tranny pan the was always leaking. He had the pan off a few times and just used straight silicone on it. The silicone went thru the tranny and plugged up the valves and orifices. Tranny was trash. His line of thinking was that I built his dad and 2 brothers and their trannys are still going strong. I built it again and told him we’re done. Don’t ever come back. No other tranny many would of gave him the time of day. Kim

I lost a friend over $100 once.
I lost a 'friend' over a misunderstanding once.....best mix-up ever. The guy was a leach....always there when there was money to be thrown around. :jackoff:

I have never told this story here before...but I bought 2 x 489 heads from a member here - from photos obviously. Given the distance and shipping times, the price sounded fair. Goods were described as used but definitely in great order.

When they finally arrived, I gave the unit with a sure-grip to my buddy Cliff, as he has helped me out a heap over the years....and storage etc. It was great, and it still runs smoothly in his Belvedere Convertible to this day.

The second one I knew needed a rebuild anyway - for my A100. But I needed a sure-grip for it. So I purchased all the parts needed, and gave it all to our diff Guru locally. The insides of the second 489 were absolute toast. Luckily my man is so gifted, he was able to effect the repairs with minimal cost to me.....but it left a slightly sour taste at being 'lied to' by a fellow FBBO member in the first instance.

The word tranny is used 6 times in the above post. By chance, are you subliminally trying to force an alternate lifestyle onto us?

Per my wifes direction. I AM NOT ALLOWED TO SELL ANYTHING TO FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, RELATIVES AND CO WORKERS. And no tools loaned either especially the chain saw.

Agree, except that my wife doesn't make my rules.

I figured all that out on my own a long time ago.

Any used part I buy, I consider it a core. Sometimes it's better than I expect, sometimes worse. A deal is a deal, make what you consider a fair deal, pay the guy, move on.
Your "friend" should have told himself "that's why I chiseled him, I'm still in this okay". All the money back and bring back the diff assembled, otherwise he's screwing you and he knows it.
