Can a 70 RR coupe/ht be converted to a convertible?

No chain yanking. It was a discussion about the feasibility to do a certain type of project.
We all learn something about ours cars in this type of inquiry. No one forced anyone to participate. Sorry if your Dick Head couldn't handle it... NOT.

When you cut the roof off, even after welding in tru-floor frame connectors, the door gap opens up! If you ever see a ragtop (any brand) with a big gap between the door and quarter panel, it was a once upon a time a hardtop !

Good point R/T. What i think your saying is no matter what, when you cut the roof the body will flex. Would a car with a separate frame, not a unibody have less of a problem?

Nope, my friend pulled the trigger while i was out of town on a 63 t-bird presumed ragtop, BIG GAP !

When you cut the last inch of roof metal , it 'TWANGS' !

Some of you mentioned getting a 68/69 convertible and changing sheet metal to a 70.
Here's a good starting car to do that.

If that thing is like every other junk "restoration" executed in this town, the rockers are full of fiberglassed holes under the paint.

I'll bet that there's visible sagging at the door-to-rocker joints, and that's why there are no proper shots of that area. Never trust a convertible seller who doesn't provide that specific photograph.
