Looks like a clean clutch Sure-Grip. Good one to have.

Not disagreeing...just trying to clarify...that's why I'm asking questions of yall.

Thanks again.

In my opinion, it's a cone. Now, aftermarket or factory? I think probably Auburn.
Edit: clutch bolts together with bolt head opposite the ring gear. Cone style bolts together from the ring gear side.

Factory cone suregrips CAN be rebuilt, contrary to some opinion. Auburn says theirs cant. I'm not sure I believe them.
If the price is right, i say go for it. However, I didn't like the cone type for my bracket car with slicks, so I bought a Detroit locker. Street car with street tires, that's what the auburn is made for.

Taken from the Mmmm's site :D

"I've got a couple of Sure Grip units which are both cone type...

The logo here might help with one of them:

Marked 'Canada' and '1987' could also be a clue.

If anyone can help me to identify these I'd certainly appreciate the help."

Answer...
The unit on the left is a factory cone-type, the one on the right is an Auburn Pro-Series differential.

.

The one on the right, that ISN'T disassembleable, has the auburn logo on it. The other is the rebuildable factory cone suregrip. The carrier unbolts from the ring gear side.
Edit : typing superfluous info while KK's post cleared the question up.

Excellent info gentlemen. I believe I am as armed as I need to be...if anyone has personal Auburn experience...I'd like to hear it.

Thanks again.

I have rebuilt factory cone sure-grips, biggest thing is to not use a soft material for the shims to bring the cones back into proper contact, I use stainless steel since it work hardens and tends to hold up well.
