I am planning to buy a new coil and wonder if I can use the MSD Blaster 2 with my mopar electronic ignition system, do I have to mount the coil vertically or can I mount in on the intake horizontally? Do I need the ballast that comes with the coil or the one that sits on the firewall or none at all?
I just want a coil that works and fits on the the intake. Any suggestions?

The Blaster 2 should work fine. Keep the ballast that's on the car. (MSD and Mopar use the same ohm rated ballasts, keep the MSD one as a spare).

I know people that have this combo and nothing bad happened after many miles of use.

MSD says it's universal. I have one on my 63 plymouth for over 10 years now and it works great.

MSD says not to mount it on its side, know a bunch that do and they have been fine so far. I run one upright with a mopar electronic ignition with the ballast that was there and have no problem. Carry a spare ballast resister with you at all times though. Mopars are known to have ballast resisters go out for no reason. Heat eat them up over time.
